The US expresses its stance on Indonesia's purchase of Russian aircraft.
Oke Nurvan, Director General of the Foreign Trade Department of Indonesia's Ministry of Trade, said that the US has expressed dissatisfaction with Jakarta's purchase of 11 Russian Su-35 aircraft, the Jakarta Post reported.

"While we were in the process of negotiating with Russia, the US tried to interfere," the ministry representative said. Despite Washington's reaction, he added, Indonesia has no intention of abandoning its plan.
Earlier, Indonesian Ambassador to the Russian Federation Mohamed Wahid Supriyadi said that Indonesia was awaiting the first shipment of 11 Su-35s.of Russia in October. In June, he said that Indonesia had signed an agreement with Russia to purchase 11 modern "Sukhoi" aircraft, and said that the contract was "very large".
According to Nurvana, the value of the deal to purchase 11 Russian aircraft is estimated at $1.14 billion. He noted that, under the terms of the agreement, Russia needs to purchase a number of Indonesian products, including palm oil, coffee, tea, and rubber, worth approximately $570 million.
