According to RIA Novosti on March 8, the Telegraph reported that US President Donald Trump is considering the possibility of withdrawing 35,000 US troops from Germany and sending them to Eastern Europe, especially Hungary.

The Telegraph quoted an unnamed source close to the US leader's administration as saying: "President Trump is considering withdrawing about 35,000 US troops from Germany, and moving them to Eastern Europe - a move that could further damage US-European relations."

According to anonymous sources from the presidential administration, Mr. Trump is "very frustrated" because Europe is "pushing for war." Accordingly, the US leader is considering sending US troops, specifically to Hungary.

The Telegraph also recalled that there are about 160,000 US troops stationed in other countries.

Earlier, Financial Times journalist Gideon Rachman, citing unnamed officials, said on February 17 that President Donald Trump may decide to withdraw US troops from the Baltic region, amid negotiations with Russia on the conflict in Ukraine. This move, noted by Mr. Trump, could have serious consequences not only for Ukraine, but also for Europe. According to this journalist, the US is no longer considered by Europeans as "an ally they can trust."

On February 20, NBC News quoted Pentagon chief Peter Hegseth as privately telling Ukrainian officials that the US was considering the possibility of withdrawing a large part of its forces from the European Union.

Meanwhile, the Hill newspaper reported on March 7 that some Republican members are calling for the restoration of military aid to Ukraine, along with the transfer of US intelligence information.

"Republican lawmakers are beginning to call on President Donald Trump to reverse his decision to suspend US military and intelligence aid to Ukraine," the Hill newspaper said.
