According to RIA Novosti on March 8, the Telegraph reported that US President Donald Trump is considering the possibility of withdrawing 35,000 US troops from Germany and deploying them to Eastern Europe, particularly Hungary.

The Telegraph, citing an anonymous source close to the US administration, reported: "President Trump is considering withdrawing around 35,000 US troops from Germany and transferring them to Eastern Europe – a move that could further damage US-European relations."

According to anonymous sources within the presidential administration, Trump is "very upset" that Europe is "promoting war." Consequently, the American leader is considering sending US troops, specifically to Hungary.

The Telegraph also reiterated that there are approximately 160,000 US troops stationed in other countries.

Earlier, Financial Times journalist Gideon Rachman, citing unnamed officials, reported on February 17 that President Donald Trump might decide to withdraw US troops from the Baltic region amid ongoing negotiations with Russia regarding the conflict in Ukraine. Trump noted that this move could have serious consequences not only for Ukraine, but also for Europe. According to the journalist, the US is no longer considered by Europeans as an "ally they can rely on."

On February 20, NBC News quoted Pentagon chief Peter Hegseth as telling Ukrainian officials privately that the U.S. was considering withdrawing a significant portion of its forces from the European Union.

Meanwhile, The Hill reported on March 7th that some Republican members are calling for the restoration of military aid to Ukraine, along with the transfer of U.S. intelligence.

"Republican lawmakers are beginning to call on President Donald Trump to reverse his decision to suspend U.S. military and intelligence aid to Ukraine," The Hill reported.
