"An unsafe and unprofessional interception in the air has the potential to cause damage and injury to all aircrews. Moreover, an unsafe and unprofessional action by one pilot can lead to an unnecessary escalation of tensions between the two countries," — the correspondent stressed.
According to her data, the US RC-135 aircraft was performing a "routine flight in international airspace" but it was intercepted by a Russian Su-27 fighter jet in an "unsafe and unprofessional manner". Ms. Baldansa also noted that this happened a few weeks after the incident with the US destroyer Donald Cook.
At the same time, she did not specify which close-in flight maneuvers the US found "unsafe and unprofessional."
