According to TASS on October 19, a press release from the US State Department stated that the country had informed the guarantor nations about the need to comply with peace agreements in the Gaza Strip, amid concerns about potential violations of the ceasefire by the Hamas movement.

Accordingly, the US has "credible data indicating an imminent violation of the ceasefire by Hamas." From the US perspective, "a planned attack against the Palestinian people would be a direct and grave violation of the ceasefire agreements and would undermine significant progress."

"The guarantor nations are requiring Hamas to comply with its obligations under the terms of the ceasefire," the U.S. State Department noted.

The document further states that if Hamas carries out such an attack, measures will be taken to protect the people of Gaza and maintain the integrity of the ceasefire.

The U.S. State Department stressed that the guarantor nations are "committed to ensuring the security of civilians, maintaining the ceasefire, and promoting peace and prosperity for the people of Gaza and throughout the region."

On the part of Hamas, the movement claims that Israel violated the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip by refusing to open the Rafah crossing.

"Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's decision... is a blatant violation of the terms of the ceasefire agreement and a failure to fulfill his obligations...", the Hamas statement said.

According to the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the Rafah checkpoint on the Gaza Strip-Egyptian border will not be opened until further notice.

"Prime Minister Netanyahu has ordered that the Rafah checkpoint will not be opened until further notice. The opening will be considered depending on how Hamas carries out part of the work to return the hostages and implement the agreed plan," the Israeli government office said in a statement.

In May 2024, the Israeli army established control over the Palestinian side of the Rafah crossing, through which humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip arrived from Egyptian territory.
