The US may transfer Patriot missiles to Ukraine.

According to TASS on July 9, the Wall Street Journal, citing sources, reported that US President Donald Trump is considering the possibility of transferring another Patriot air defense system to Kyiv.

The publication notes that this could be the first major arms supply to Ukraine, a decision made by the current administration, not by former President Joe Biden.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the White House has asked the Pentagon for information on the possibility of sending more military aid to Ukraine. Additionally, US officials are exploring whether other Western countries might also transfer air defense systems to Ukraine.

In total, Ukraine has received three Patriot systems from the United States, three from Germany, and one each from some European country. The Wall Street Journal reports that it remains unclear how many interceptor missiles the U.S. and its allies can allocate to Kyiv, as the conflict in Ukraine and military operations in the Middle East have depleted its stockpile of this weapon.

Earlier, State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce said that the U.S. had never refused to assist Ukraine and intended to continue providing it. In response to a request for comment on the U.S. administration's plans to continue supplying weapons to Kyiv, Bruce said the recent pause should not be seen as a "new approach or position" by Washington.

During a cabinet meeting at the White House on July 8, President Donald Trump said he would “create a little surprise for Russia” when commenting on future actions against Moscow. At the same time, Trump declined to answer what steps Washington intended to take.

Commenting on the prospect of Congress passing the Senate bill on new sanctions against Russia, President Trump said, “that’s entirely his choice,” and Congress will accept it.

The American leader added that he was studying the bill "very closely."
