Anyone who takes action, such as firing missiles at U.S. ships operating in international waters, could face retaliation, Reuters quoted Jeff Davis, a Pentagon spokesman, as saying on October 11.
The destroyer USS Mason was attacked by missiles on October 9th while off the coast of Yemen. Both missiles landed in the sea before reaching the ship, causing no casualties or damage.
The U.S. believes the missiles were launched from territory in Yemen controlled by Houthi rebels, who are backed by Iran. When asked if the Pentagon had a list of targets for retaliatory strikes, Davis replied that he "couldn't confirm that at this time."
