US freezes assets of Russian businessman
Washington has just frozen the assets of businessman Oleg Deripaska in the US. Most likely, among the frozen assets is his mansion located in the New York district of the Upper East Side (Washington). The New York Post newspaper quoted sources from the US Treasury Department.

According to the newspaper, representatives of the US Treasury Department are negotiating with the businessman to stop activities related to assets in Europe, to avoid the risk of sanctions.
The New York Post writes that Mr. Deripaska bought real estate in New York for $42.5 million in 2008. Representatives of this businessman declined to comment on the information.On April 6, the US government imposed sanctions on Deripaska and companies he controls, including Rusal, Russia’s only primary aluminum producer. Under US regulations, those placed on the sanctions list will have their assets in the country frozen, and US citizens are not allowed to conduct any business with this businessman.
