Reuters reported that the U.S. Consulate in Istanbul, northeastern Türkiye, canceled consular services on December 9 due to "information about a potential security threat" to the mission.

In a statement posted on its website, the U.S. Consulate said: "We advise U.S. citizens to remain vigilant and take appropriate measures to enhance their personal security."
