US closes consulate in Türkiye due to "security threat"
Reuters reported that the US Consulate in Istanbul, northeastern Türkiye, canceled consular services on December 9 due to "information about a potential security threat" against the mission.

In a statement posted on its website, the US Consulate said: "We advise US citizens to maintain a high level of vigilance and take appropriate measures to enhance personal security."
According to the announcement, other US diplomatic missions in Türkiye - in the capital Ankara and the cities of Izmir and Adana - will continue to operate normally.
