Earlier, on August 9th, the US Strategic Command announced that the US had deployed three B-2 stealth bombers to Guam in preparation for the exercise.
According to KCNA, the annual joint military exercises between the U.S. and South Korea, held in August or September, need to be closely monitored because they involve the deployment of a range of U.S. nuclear weapons that could spark a nuclear war.
The KCNA news agency added that in the upcoming exercise, the US plans to conduct a surprise nuclear attack to assess its ability to launch a preemptive strike on a specific target.
Previously, Pyongyang had repeatedly claimed that joint military exercises between the US and South Korea simulated an attack on North Korea. However, the US-South Korea alliance maintained that the exercises were conducted to train defensive skills to counter potential attacks from North Korea.
