US Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin stressed that he wants to cut off "all trade and business" with North Korea with a new package of sanctions after Pyongyang conducted its sixth nuclear test, Fox News reported.
"I've spoken with the President," Mnuchin said on "Fox News Sunday." "Clearly, that action is unacceptable... I will draft a sanctions bill and send it to the President. We will work with our allies. We will work with China. But everyone needs to cut off all economic ties with North Korea."
According to the US Treasury Secretary, "President Trump has also made it clear that he will consider everything."
North Korean television announced the hydrogen bomb test on September 3rd.
North Korea announced today the successful testing of a thermonuclear bomb that can be mounted on an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), with a power greater than any previous test. According to Lee Mi-sun, head of South Korea's meteorological agency, this test was five to six times more powerful than North Korea's nuclear test last year. Last year's explosion had an explosive yield of approximately 10 kilotons (equivalent to 10,000 tons of TNT).
US President Donald Trump has criticized North Korea's actions as "hostile and dangerous." He also called North Korea a "major threat" and an "embarrassment to China, which is trying to help but has had little success."
