Is the US lagging behind Russia and China in nuclear weapons development?
Experts believe that the US nuclear arsenal is outdated, while Russia and China are both building up their nuclear forces.

According to RT on August 6th, journalist Robert Peters of The National Interest argues that while Russia and China are actively expanding their nuclear arsenals, the US arsenal is outdated.
Expert Robert Peters notes that the U.S. is currently making the necessary efforts to replace outdated Cold War-era nuclear systems with more modern versions, but these efforts are insufficient. The U.S. has lagged behind in nuclear weapons modernization and ignored the active efforts of Moscow and Beijing to gain a nuclear advantage over Washington, including abandoning nuclear arms control negotiations.
The National Interest argues that, therefore, it is time for the U.S. to develop the nuclear arsenal necessary to deter “strategic attacks and wars between great powers over the next half-century.”
Experts believe that, in order to achieve genuine deterrence in a world where threats are increasingly prevalent, the United States must expand and diversify not only its tactics, but also its strategic arsenal.
