(Baonghean.vn) - Only Russia has strategic hypersonic complexes - that is the statement of Mr. Paul Freistler, leading science and technology expert at the US military intelligence agency.

"There is another system, the SS-19 Mod 4 (Avangard) which achieved initial operational capability in 2018 and is the only deployed strategic hypersonic system in the world," Freistler announced at a congressional hearing.
According to this expert's statement, Washington's opponents "are developing capabilities that can keep the US in a constant state of threat".
“Hypersonic missiles, designed to evade US sensors and defense systems, are the embodiment of the threat,” Freistler concluded.
The first regiment, equipped with the Avangard strategic missile system with hypersonic glide wings, entered service with the Yasnenskaya missile division of the Russian armed forces in 2019.
As previously announced in the Strategic Missile Forces, in 2023 the second regiment of intercontinental ballistic missiles with Avangard hypersonic mass will take up combat duty.
