The US declares it will overthrow President Maduro by any means necessary.

Earlier, President Donald Trump signed an executive order freezing assets of the Venezuelan government in the US jurisdiction, placing the country's central bank and Venezuela's state-owned oil company PDVSA on the list.

"As the Trump administration has made clear: all options are on the table. The United States will use all appropriate tools to end Maduro's power in Venezuela, support the Venezuelan people's access to humanitarian aid, and ensure a democratic transition of power in Venezuela," the statement said.

The US has declared it will use every means to overthrow Maduro.

New sanctions

The U.S. could impose sanctions against foreigners who support the Venezuelan government and President Nicolas Maduro, according to John Bolton, U.S. President's national security adviser. Bolton stated that with new sanctions against Venezuela, the United States would be sending a signal to..."Third parties want to do business with the Maduro regime."

The Venezuelan Foreign Ministry called Trump's executive order an act of economic terrorism against the Venezuelan people.

"Washington has issued a decree formalizing the criminal blockade surrounding our economy, finance, and trade," Venezuela's foreign ministry announced.

In Venezuela, on January 21, massive protests began against the incumbent president, Nicolas Maduro. On January 23, National Assembly President Juan Guaido declared himself the interim head of state for the duration of this government. The United States and several other countries have declared recognition of Guaido. Russia supports Maduro as the legitimate president of Venezuela.

Britain, Germany, France, and Spain have declared their intention to recognize Guaido as the country's interim president if no new elections are announced in Venezuela within eight days. To date, in addition to the US, Brazil, Canada, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Georgia, Albania, and several other countries have also recognized Guaido as the head of state.
