The US is building a fleet of missile ships in preparation for an attack on Syria.
The United States is building a fleet of cruise missiles in the Middle East to carry out attacks against Syrian government forces following a pre-planned provocation involving the use of chemical weapons in Idlib province, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov told state media on August 27.
"The US continues to build up its missile fleet in the Middle East in preparation for another provocative operation in Idlib province, justified by the pretext of the use of chemical weapons," Konashenkov said.
He pointed out that "this preparation is the latest confirmation of the US intention to use the chemical weapons pretext to attack the Syrian army."
A spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Defense added that the Jabhat al Nusra terrorist group would carry out the plot with the support of British intelligence agencies.

Recently, the Russian military stated that rebel groups are preparing to use chemical weapons, and the US could use this as a pretext for a new attack to destroy Syrian infrastructure.
To achieve this goal, the destroyer USS Sullivans, equipped with 56 cruise missiles, arrived in the Persian Gulf a few days ago, while a B-1B bomber carrying 24 AGM-258 JASSM air-to-ground cruise missiles is on standby at Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, Konashenkov noted.
Earlier, on August 26, the Russian Ministry of Defense's press service announced that two destroyers, the Admiral Crigorovich and Admiral Essen, were heading to the Mediterranean to help Syria prevent a possible attack by the US-UK and French coalition following the chemical attack in Idlib.
