At approximately 0:00 on October 26th, in the Kẽm slope area of Xốp Pu village, Yên Na commune, Tương Dương district, this group of individuals took advantage of the darkness, sneaking through the forest to penetrate deep into the interior. They were armed with AK rifles and grenades.
Police fired warning shots into the air, calling on the group to surrender their weapons. However, upon realizing they were surrounded, the group opened fire in an attempt to escape.
After several minutes of unsuccessful attempts to persuade them to stay, the police had to open fire to ensure the absolute safety of the officers on duty.
"Taking advantage of the darkness, the criminal group escaped into the forest. Upon examining the scene, police discovered a Laotian suspect (whose identity has not yet been determined), approximately 30 years old, dead at the scene from gunshot wounds. It is possible that two suspects escaped," Lieutenant Colonel Nam said.
