In 2016, Nghe An province raised over 64 billion VND for the poor.
(Baonghean.vn) - On December 30, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province held its 10th Conference (13th term); summarizing the Front's work in 2016 and implementing tasks for 2017.

In 2016, the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels, in coordination with its member organizations and with all levels, sectors, localities, agencies, and units throughout the province, played a key role in building national unity; propagated and mobilized the people to actively participate in patriotic emulation movements in the locality; participated in building a clean and strong Party and government, contributing to the successful achievement of the socio-economic development goals and tasks of Nghe An province.

Significant results have been achieved in the implementation of the "National Unity Movement for Building New Rural Areas and Civilized Urban Areas". The Fatherland Front at all levels has mobilized the people to donate nearly 400,000 cubic meters of land and contribute over 460,000 man-days of labor to the program. To date, 145 communes in the province have achieved the status of new rural areas, including one district-level unit, Thai Hoa Town, which has achieved the status of a new rural district. The "Gratitude and Repayment" program has mobilized over 11.5 billion VND, enabling the construction and repair of 169 houses for needy families and the donation of nearly 92,000 gifts worth 24.6 billion VND.
In particular, the "Fund for the Poor" campaign continued to be effectively implemented by the Fatherland Front at all levels. In 2016, it mobilized 22 billion VND, renovated and repaired 798 solidarity houses, and provided over 8.7 billion VND to support the provision of plant and animal breeds, helping poor students attend school.
In 2016, the Vietnam Fatherland Front mobilized over 64 billion VND for the poor, including over 42 billion VND for the "Tet for the Poor - Year of the Monkey 2016" campaign and over 22 billion VND for the Fund for the Poor.

Furthermore, relief efforts under Decree 64 were very successful, receiving and distributing 34 billion VND to people affected by natural disasters. The campaign "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods" was effective, with over 90% of the population participating. Movements mobilizing the entire population to participate in protecting national security, protecting the environment, and responding to climate change continued to be cared for by the Fatherland Front at all levels.
At the conference, delegates shared many insightful opinions on front-line work and discussed effective methods for carrying out campaigns.

In 2017, the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) at all levels and its member organizations continued to effectively implement campaigns and movements, enhancing the effectiveness of propaganda, mobilization, and gathering of the people, consolidating and promoting the strength of national unity. They fostered the creativity and self-governance of the people, implementing patriotic campaigns and movements. They promoted democracy, represented and protected the rights of the people, conducted social supervision and criticism, and participated in building the Party and government. They expanded and improved the effectiveness of people's diplomacy. They perfected mechanisms and enhanced the operational capacity of the VFF system at all levels to meet the requirements of the new period.
Speaking at the conference, Comrade Le Xuan Dai – Standing Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province – informed those working in the Fatherland Front about some issues regarding the socio-economic situation, the advantages and difficulties of the province in the past year, especially the marine environmental incident which greatly affected industries related to the sea. However, thanks to the good promotion of the tradition of national unity, many areas still achieved the set plan. Comrade Le Xuan Dai hoped that those working in the Fatherland Front would continue to develop their capabilities and do a good job of gathering and building the great national unity.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister awarded Certificates of Merit to one collective and one individual of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province for their work in the 2016 elections; two individuals for their achievements in contributing to the cause of building socialism and defending the Fatherland; and five districts were awarded Emulation Flags by the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee for their leading achievements in Fatherland Front work.
Also at the conference, the Nghe An Provincial Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front dismissed and elected five additional members to the Committee for the 2014-2019 term and launched the emulation movement for 2017.
