In 2021, Nghe An province set a target of achieving $1.2 billion in export turnover.

In 2020, amidst the severe Covid-19 pandemic worldwide, many import and export businesses overcame difficulties and leveraged the advantages of FTAs ​​to stabilize production and boost exports, bringing Nghe An's total export value to US$1.123 billion, of which goods exports reached US$813 million, an increase of 2.3% compared to 2019, achieving 95.6% of the set plan.

Goods are exported to more than 128 countries and territories worldwide, an increase of 15 markets compared to 2019.

Total merchandise imports in 2020 are estimated at US$735 million, a decrease of 5.9% compared to 2019, but exceeding the 2020 plan by 3.5%.

In 2021, the Ministry of Industry and Trade set a target of achieving a total export turnover of 1.2 billion USD, an increase of 7.1% compared to 2020, of which the export turnover of goods reached 910 million USD, an increase of 12.3% compared to 2020; and the export of labor and services reached 290 million USD.

Delivering a keynote address at the conference, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Hong Vinh commended the efforts and significant contributions of the Industry and Trade sector, localities, and import-export businesses to the socio-economic development of the province.2021 was the first year of implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and the 10-year socio-economic development strategy. To achieve the set goals, the Ministry of Industry and Trade needs to strengthen its direction of production and processing of goods, creatingexport goodsClosely monitor market conditions to review and identify the types of goods that other countries are in need of importing, in order to exploit and develop export markets.

Encouraging businesses to expand production, innovate technology, and improve labor productivity, especially for textile, mineral processing, fruit processing, and seafood processing businesses exporting key products of the province, which have the potential to significantly increase both output and production.export turnoverin 2021.

Actively promote investment and attract domestic and foreign investors to Nghe An to invest in the production of export goods. This is identified as a crucial solution to create a breakthrough in generating a diverse range of export goods and increasing export turnover in the coming years during the 2020-2025 period.

The Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also requested that departments, agencies, and the People's Committees of districts, cities, and towns regularly engage with businesses, understand their difficulties and obstacles, in order to create favorable conditions and resolve issues for businesses in their production, import, and export activities; and at the same time, regularly coordinate and update information on the export and import situation in the province, compile proposals and recommendations from businesses to report to the Provincial People's Committee for timely handling and resolution, contributing to the achievement of the export plan targets set by the 19th Congress of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee, term 2020-2025.

From the perspective of businesses, it is necessary to innovate thinking and build long-term production and business strategies. In particular, innovation, creativity, and the development of high-quality products linked to brand building should be emphasized more than ever. Focus should also be placed on attracting and developing a team of skilled personnel in import-export, international payments, and foreign languages ​​to minimize unnecessary business risks.
