On the morning of January 29th, the Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation in Nghe An province held a conference to summarize the voluntary blood donation work in 2025 and to implement tasks for 2026. Attending the conference was Mr. Thai Van Thanh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and Head of the Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation in the province.

In 2025, the Provincial Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation proactively developed and adjusted the blood donation plan to suit the actual situation. In addition, they maintained the organization of regular blood donation programs and campaigns such as: the Spring Blood Donation Festival, Red Sunday, Drops of Red Blood, Red Journey - Connecting the Vietnamese Bloodline... This ensured uninterrupted blood supply for emergency and treatment purposes.

Coordination between the Red Cross Society - the Standing Agency of the Steering Committee - and the health sector, departments, agencies, and localities continues to be strengthened and made more flexible, especially during peak periods in the summer and the Lunar New Year.

During the year, the entire province mobilized and received 50,077 units of blood, achieving 111% of the set plan. The rate of voluntary blood donation reached 98%; the rate of repeat blood donors reached 82%; and the percentage of the population participating in blood donation reached 1.45%, basically meeting the needs for emergency and treatment at hospitals in the province.

However, blood donation activities last year still faced some difficulties due to the increasing demand for blood for emergency and treatment purposes; the mobilization of people to participate in blood donation in some areas remained limited, especially during peak periods of hot weather, storms, and the end of the year.

Speaking at the conference, Comrade Thai Van Thanh acknowledged, highly appreciated, and commended the achievements in the voluntary blood donation campaign in the past period; and at the same time requested all levels and sectors to continue to promote a sense of responsibility and innovate methods so that the blood donation movement will spread more widely in the community.

In implementing its tasks for 2026, the Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation in Nghe An province aims to receive 47,500 units of blood, including 500 units for reserve, striving to achieve 1.4% of the population participating in blood donation.

In the coming period, the Steering Committee will continue to strengthen the grassroots Steering Committees; promote the application of information technology in propaganda, mobilization, and organization of large-scale blood donation campaigns. At the same time, it will closely coordinate with the health sector to ensure safe blood collection and distribution, and be ready to respond in the event of natural disasters, storms, and floods.
