In 2025, Nghe An province will fine more than 82,000 cases of traffic safety violations.
This information was announced at the online conference summarizing traffic safety work in 2025 and outlining tasks for 2026, organized by the Provincial People's Committee on the afternoon of January 16th.
The conference was chaired by Comrade Hoang Phu Hien - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee.
Co-chairing the meeting were comrades: Pham Hong Quang - Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Director of the Department of Construction, Deputy Head of the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee; and Colonel Nguyen Duc Cuong - Deputy Director of the Provincial Police.
Also attending were representatives from various departments and agencies, as well as participants from 130 locations in wards and communes throughout the province.

Reporting at the conference, a representative from the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee stated that in 2025 (from December 15, 2024 to December 14, 2025), the province experienced 362 traffic accidents, resulting in 261 deaths and 203 injuries; 171 cars, 317 motorcycles, and 39 other vehicles were damaged. Compared to the same period in 2024, this represents a decrease of 37 accidents (9.3%).
To achieve these results, during the year, the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee directed localities to innovate in content and methods, and diversify forms to reach all levels of the population, such as: organizing pilot programs to disseminate traffic safety laws and safe driving skills to 3,500 high school students; donating 69,386 helmets to first-grade students; organizing 10 traffic safety law dissemination programs for junior high school students; building and maintaining 23 exemplary "Safe Traffic Gate" models...

Also in 2025, the Nghe An Traffic Police force organized 39,148 traffic control patrols with 127,351 officers and soldiers participating, detecting and issuing administrative records on traffic safety in 92,910 cases; issuing fines in 82,732 cases, collecting more than 144 billion VND for the State budget.
Despite achieving positive results, in 2025, the traffic safety situation in the province was significantly impacted by natural disasters. Specifically, heavy rains and floods caused by typhoons No. 3, No. 5, and No. 10 resulted in landslides and damage to many important transportation routes such as National Highway 7 and National Highway 16, as well as numerous bridges and culverts.

Several wards and communes, especially in urban areas, have petitioned the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee to pilot the placement of signs and markings to collect parking fees for cars on sidewalks of certain roads in order to curb the widespread problem of illegal parking; and to address the shortage of parking spaces at hospitals, schools, and administrative offices, which has put pressure on surrounding infrastructure.
Some localities also requested the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee and other provincial departments and agencies to provide support in installing signs and handling oversized and overloaded vehicles.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Hoang Phu Hien, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and Deputy Head of the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee, highly appreciated the results of traffic safety work in the province over the past period. However, in the past year, the traffic safety situation in the province still revealed some shortcomings; the total number of traffic accidents remained high; some traffic safety black spots have not yet been addressed; and traffic infrastructure in many localities suffered severe damage and has not yet been repaired...

Comrade Hoang Phu Hien also emphasized that in the coming period, departments, agencies, and localities need to decisively implement measures to ensure traffic safety before, during, and after the upcoming Lunar New Year (Year of the Horse); strengthen the clearing of traffic safety corridors; innovate propaganda work; decisively and comprehensively implement measures to ensure traffic safety and strictly handle violations; focus on reviewing the system of traffic signs and infrastructure points that are degraded or damaged...
