(Baonghean.vn) - Before April 20th, Nam Dan district is focusing on completing the dossier to submit to the Prime Minister for recognition; striving to organize the ceremony to receive the New Rural District status on the occasion of the anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday on May 19th.

This was the opinion of Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Tran Thanh Nam, Head of the Central Steering Committee for National Target Programs giai đoạn 2016 - 2020, at a working session with Nam Dan district on the afternoon of March 28th regarding the situation of building new rural areas. Attending the meeting with the delegation from Nghe An province was Mr. Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and Deputy Head of the Provincial Steering Committee for National Target Programs.

Reporting to the working group on Nam Dan's achievements in building new rural areas, Mr. Dinh Xuan Que, Chairman of the District People's Committee, said: After 7 years of implementing the Program, all 23/23 communes have been recognized by the Provincial People's Committee as achieving new rural area standards. All 9/9 district-level criteria stipulated in Decision No. 558/QD-TTg have also been basically met.

The total funding mobilized for new rural development in Nam Dan district over the past 7 years is more than 1,530 billion VND, including: Central government budget of over 107 billion VND; provincial budget of 145 billion VND; district budget of 160 billion VND; commune budget of 193.2 billion VND; enterprise capital of 98.5 billion VND; people's contributions of 346.7 billion VND; and integrated capital from programs and projects in the area of ​​479.8 billion VND.

During the working session with the delegation, Nam Dan district proposed several points: requesting the Central and Provincial New Rural Development Coordination Offices to provide guidance to the district in completing the relevant documents and procedures before submitting them to the Prime Minister for approval, and to continue effectively implementing the Model New Rural District Project.

We propose that the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development direct the General Department of Irrigation to encourage businesses to invest and expedite the investment in the clean water plant in the Nam Nam area of ​​Nam Dan district.

Following a field survey and a report from the district, the working group of the Central Steering Committee for National Target Programs assessed the current situation and provided feedback to improve the application for recognition of the district as a New Rural Area, as well as offering suggestions for the Nam Dan district's model New Rural Area development plan.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Tran Thanh Nam acknowledged the achievements of Nam Dan district in implementing the New Rural Development Program; thereby, many high-income production models have been formed; the transportation system has been upgraded, and the face of rural Nam Dan has brightened.

The Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development instructed: Before April 20th, Nam Dan district must complete the application dossier for recognition as a New Rural Area standard district and the Model New Rural Area District Project to submit to the Prime Minister for recognition and to officially receive the New Rural Area status on the occasion of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday on May 19th. At the same time, the Government will also approve the Model New Rural Area District Project for the period 2018-2025.

During the meeting, the consulting unit reported to the delegation on the progress of the pilot project for building model new rural areas in Nam Dan district, focusing on developing rural tourism services associated with culture, traditions, and revolutionary history.

Participating in the review of the report, the delegation members suggested that the consulting unit should focus primarily on solutions to improve the lives of the people, developing cultural heritage in conjunction with tourism based on the local strengths. In addition, attention should be paid to security and order, ensuring environmental protection, and dividing the process into specific phases.
