Nam Kim (Nam Dan) creates momentum for sustainable new rural development

(Baonghean) - Among the 18 communes reaching the new rural finish line of Nam Dan district, Nam Kim commune is the commune with a high proportion of internal resources contributing to the construction of the new rural area, accounting for more than 70%. This result stems from the correct policies and decisions of the entire political system and the consensus of the people.

The difference when starting to implement the National Target Program on New Rural Development in Nam Kim is the policy of planning specialized economic development areas with specialty lemon trees in Thien Nhan hill area, high-quality rice in the fields, chives, jasmine and chives in the hillside area... to increase income for people. Up to now, 64% of agricultural land area has reached over 70 million VND/ha/year.

From a poor commune, Nam Kim has made a breakthrough with an average growth rate of 5.7% in 5 years, average income of 33 million VND/person/year, the poverty rate has decreased to 90 households (accounting for 3.88%). The economy has developed, so mobilizing contributions to build new rural works has many advantages. After more than 5 years, the whole commune has invested 241.4 billion VND to complete the new rural criteria, of which the people have contributed nearly 170 billion VND, accounting for 70% of the capital.

Especially with the drastic participation of the cadres and party members, always upholding the pioneering spirit of being exemplary in the movements, persistently campaigning, creating consensus and active support from the whole people, not only contributing money, but people also voluntarily donated more than 10,000 m2 of land, 6,000 m of fence, nearly 20,000 working days to expand roads and build welfare works.

The implementation process has some passive criteria, difficult to implement with a commune with a fairly large area, but Nam Kim still does well such as: rural traffic, environment, social security and order, building the political and cultural system.

Accordingly, the spiritual life of the people has also been increasingly improved. Up to now, nearly 19/21km of roads have been paved, 100% of the internal roads have been paved. 22/22 hamlets in Nam Kim have built spacious cultural houses with synchronous investment in cultural and sports facilities, and medical stations that met national standards in 2013. Thanks to promoting the movement of "all people unite to build a cultural life in residential areas", the commune has deployed to households to sign emulation agreements in implementing the criteria for building cultural families, so every year, the rate of cultural families reaches over 85%.

In 2016 alone, Nam Kim commune was recognized as a new rural cultural commune. In addition to taking care of economic and cultural development, Nam Kim has focused on building a strong political system, ensuring political stability and social order and safety. The Party Committee of Nam Kim commune was recognized by the District Party Committee as a strong and clean Party Committee.

Assessing the process of building a new rural area in his commune, comrade Trinh Xuan Hung - Chairman of Nam Kim Commune People's Committee said: "To achieve the results as today, first of all, it is the solidarity, consensus and support of the Party Committee and people in the commune, this is the basic factor for the process of implementing the National Target Program on building a new rural area in the area. The most important thing is to rely on the people's strength along with attaching importance to implementing democratic regulations, promoting the role of the people as masters "people know, people discuss, people do and people inspect".

In the coming time, Nam Kim commune will continue to focus on restructuring crops and livestock, expanding business and service sectors to maintain and increase people's income, creating a premise for building sustainable new rural areas, and raising the level of new rural criteria.

It can be said that in the roadmap to build a commune that meets new rural standards, each commune has a different way of doing things, but in the end, it all boils down to one spirit: high determination, unity, solidarity, and joint efforts of the whole community.

For Nam Kim - a flood-affected commune that annually suffers severe devastation from natural disasters, the effort to overcome difficulties is the decisive factor for the commune to firmly reach the NTM finish line. This will be a great motivation, contributing more strength to the Party Committee and people of Nam Kim to confidently and firmly implement the construction of a model New Rural Commune in the next phase; contributing to the district in accelerating the determined roadmap.
