A male student from Do Luong achieved 29.5 points thanks to self-study.
(Baonghean.vn) - With a total score of 29.5 in Block A, Luu Quoc Thuoc, a student in class 12A1 of Do Luong 4 High School, is leading the school and ranking second in Do Luong district in Block A scores in the 2017 National High School Graduation Examination.
Since receiving her son Thước's exam results, Phan Thị Minh's phone has been ringing constantly as relatives, friends, and colleagues have been calling to congratulate her on his high scores in the National High School Graduation Exam.
Thước is the eldest of two siblings in a family where both parents are teachers, so Thước inherited the family's tradition of academic excellence early on. In middle school, Thước attended Lý Nhật Quang Secondary School – a top-performing school in the district. Because the school was 20 km from home, his family had to rent a room for him to live in, dropping him off at the beginning and returning home at the end of the week. This early experience fostered a strong sense of independence and self-discipline in Thước.

With his intelligent nature, thirst for knowledge, and love of exploration, this small-statured student has achieved many academic accomplishments. In 5th grade, Thuoc won second prize in the provincial online math competition. During his middle school years, Thuoc was recognized as an outstanding math student at the district level. Throughout his three years of high school, he consistently achieved excellent academic results. Notably, in the recent National High School Graduation Examination, Thuoc scored 29.5 points in Block A (Mathematics 10, Physics 9.75, Chemistry 9.75), becoming the highest-scoring candidate in Block A at Do Luong 4 High School and second highest in the entire district.
Thước's learning method is to focus solely on studying with teachers at school, rather than attending cram schools. Additionally, at home, he often goes online to access information and download necessary materials for reference and knowledge enhancement. In general, self-study is the primary method. Thước believes that one should only study within their capabilities, avoiding excessive studying or studying too late at night, which can negatively impact health. For multiple-choice exams, to get a high score, especially a perfect 10, it's crucial to avoid making mistakes on easy questions. Many students make the mistake of focusing on difficult questions while being overconfident on the easy ones.

| Besides studying, Thuoc is also diligent with household chores. |
Speaking about her son, Mrs. Minh - Thuoc's mother - excitedly said: "Thuoc is a good son, studious, and diligent with household chores. The family is very happy to know his exam results; it's the result we've all been hoping for, and it's commensurate with his efforts in studying over the past years."
Mr. Tran Dang Sang, homeroom teacher of class 12A1, said: “Thuoc is a student with good thinking skills, diligent, and sociable. During his studies, he frequently communicates with teachers and friends, and is active in group activities.”
Thước's passion since childhood has been information technology, so he has always harbored the dream of becoming a programmer in the future. In the recent entrance exam, he applied to two universities: the Military Technical Academy and Hanoi University of Science and Technology. With 29.5 points in Block A, Thước hopes to become a soldier in the army.
