Male student filmed 40 clips of female student bathing to blackmail her

A male student was considered gentle and had been awarded, but secretly filmed about 40 clips of female students bathing to blackmail them.

Ninh Kieu District People's Court (Can Tho City) has just held a first-instance trial of defendant Duong Ho Vu (19 years old, residing in An Giang province) for the act of "Extortion of property".

Vu is a first-year accounting student at the Faculty of Economics at Can Tho University. He was charged with filming about 40 clips of 17 female students bathing in order to blackmail them.

According to the indictment, from March to April 2015, Vu participated in a national defense education course with many other students organized by the school in Hoa An area (Hoa An commune, Phung Hiep district, Hau Giang province).

At this time, Vu knew the schedule of the female students so he sneaked into the bathroom, put his phone on, and secretly filmed the female students bathing to satisfy his personal needs.

After finishing the course, Vu returned to Can Tho and due to lack of money, this male student used two social media accounts, "Minh Rock" and "Tran Minh", to make friends with the female students who were filmed and sent sensitive images, demanding that they transfer money to Vu's account, otherwise he would post the "hot" clips online.

For accounting students, Vu asked for 5 million VND, for finance students, Vu asked for 6 million VND. Vu sent nude photos and forced 17 female students to give him money.

When receiving the "hot" photos of themselves, the girls were shocked and very worried so they reported to the Board of Directors of Can Tho University and the school reported to the police.

On April 26, Vu was arrested by the police. Vu admitted to sending text messages forcing 17 female students to give him 92 million VND and only one person transferred 1.5 million VND to Vu, but the male student had only withdrawn 500,000 VND to spend when he was arrested.

At the trial, the panel of judges said that it was necessary to clarify whether the amount of money in Vu's account related to the extortion case was still 1 million VND as Vu claimed or not, so the file should be returned for investigation and clarification.

It is known that before the incident, Vu was considered to have a gentle personality, especially this male student was one of the students commended by the local government when he passed the entrance exam to Can Tho University.
