With 340 points, Ho Dac Thanh Chuong from Quoc Hoc Hue High School for the Gifted became the champion of the 2016 Road to Olympia competition, winning a prize of $35,000.

On the morning of August 21st, the final round of the "Road to Olympia" competition took place at the VTV studio (Hanoi). Four contestants competed: Lam Vu Tuan (High School...)Ho Dac Thanh Chuong (Hue National High School for the Gifted, Thua Thien - Hue), Phan Tien Tung (Nguyen Du High School for the Gifted, Dak Lak) and Le Duy Bach (Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted).

Throughout the competition, Thanh Chương consistently displayed composure when giving his answers. Right from the first round...In the warm-up round, the 11th-grade student from Quoc Hoc Hue High School impressed his fellow contestants by answering 11 out of 12 questions correctly, earning 110 points.

Entering the first round with a relaxed and calm demeanor, Lam Vu Tuan answered 9 out of 12 questions correctly, scoring 90 points. Meanwhile, Tien Tung...Due to nervousness and pressure from the strong start of the first round, the two contestants only scored 80 points with 8 correct answers, the same score as Duy Bach.

In the second round of the Obstacle Course, right after the question in row number 2, Tien Tung pressed the signal to answer. However, it wasn't the correct answer, so Tung had to stop the second round there. At the question in row number 4, Thanh Chuong gave his answer. With the answer "Son Tinh, Thuy Tinh," the young man from Hue won the second round.

At the end of this round, Thanh Chương is temporarily leading with 160 points, followed by Vũ Tuấn with 110 points, Tiến Tùng with 90 points, and Duy Bách with 80 points.

The Speed ​​Round was seen as an opportunity for contestants to make a comeback. Duy Bach accelerated with two of the fastest answers, earning 80 points, and a third-place answer earning 20 points, bringing his total to 170. Vu Tuan also had 170 points. Tien Tung scored 140, and Thanh Chuong remained in the lead with 250 points.

The final round is an opportunity for contestants to increase their scores, with 3 questions worth 40, 60, and 80 points.Vu Tuan confidently chose the 80-point question package and placed his "star of hope" on the first question. He answered all three questions correctly, earning 270 points after all four rounds.

Thanh Chương chose the 60-point question package. Maintaining the same composure as in the first round, Thanh Chương finished with all three answers correct. As a result, he earned 310 points.

Despite not having a good run in the previous rounds, Tien Tung still gave his all in the final round with the 80-point question package and the "hope star" for the last question. However, Tung did not score any points, so his total score remained at 140.

Meanwhile, Thanh Chuong earned an additional 30 points in Tien Tung's question package, bringing his total score to 340. Duy Bach completed the final round with the 80-point question package, bringing his final score to 160.

Ultimately, with 340 points, Thanh Chương became the first person to achieve the highest score in the 16 finals of the Road to Olympia competition, winning the $35,000 prize."I'm very happy. Everyone else is so good, I won because maybe I was a little luckier," Thanh Chương humbly shared.

Chương shared that the secret to doing well in the competitions was staying calm, confident, and not putting too much pressure on herself about the scores. She always tried to balance her studies at school with acquiring additional knowledge to participate in the program.

"To achieve the results I have today, it's thanks to my parents who have always provided support and encouragement for my studies. Besides that, my teachers and friends have always shown me love and enthusiasm in helping me," the champion shared.

For Lam Vu Tuan, even though he only came in second, he expressed satisfaction with his performance: "I didn't win, but I have no regrets. I gave it my all. Thanh Chuong fully deserved it; he's very talented," Tuan shared.
