A young man born in the 1990s receives a sentence for possessing 10kg of fireworks.

On the afternoon of February 28, 2019, the Tan Ky District People's Court tried the criminal case against Nguyen Huu Manh, born in 1991, residing in Yen Thanh hamlet, Tan An commune, Tan Ky district, for the crime of "Possessing prohibited goods".
The indictment states that, before the 2019 Lunar New Year, Nguyen Huu Manh called a man named Thanh (Manh did not know his specific address) to ask him to buy firecrackers for use. On December 23, 2018, Manh received a call from Thanh arranging to meet at the Lang Rao gas station in Tan Huong commune, Tan Ky district, to pick up the firecrackers. Manh drove his motorbike, license plate 37K6-8454 (which Phan Tuan Anh had lent him), from his house to the meeting point.

Upon arrival, Thanh called Manh and told him to go to the area near Cau Troi Bridge, in Ky Son commune, Tan Ky district, to give Thanh the money to pick up the fireworks. Manh gave Thanh 4,200,000 VND and returned to the Lang Rao gas station area to wait. At 12:30 PM the same day, the man named Thanh returned and gave Manh a cardboard box containing 6 boxes of 36-firework sets and a black plastic bag containing 1 box of 36-firework sets.
Afterward, Mạnh transported the fireworks back home. On the way back, in the Tân Sơn hamlet area of Tân An commune, Mạnh was stopped and inspected by the Tân Kỳ District Police. The police apprehended him in the act of committing a crime, sealed the evidence, and took Nguyễn Hữu Mạnh to the police station for further investigation.
On December 23, 2018, the Criminal Investigation Agency of Tan Ky District Police determined that the 7 boxes of firecrackers, each containing 36 firecrackers, seized from Nguyen Huu Manh, weighed 10.2 kg and possessed all the characteristics of explosive firecrackers. At the investigative agency, Nguyen Huu Manh confessed to all his criminal acts.
The court sentenced Nguyen Huu Manh to 9 months of suspended imprisonment, with an 18-month probationary period.
