Young man poured gasoline and set himself on fire
The young man is said to have gone to his girlfriend's family's corrugated iron hut in the cattle farm, doused himself in gasoline, and set it on fire.
On June 4, Khanh Hoa General Hospital admitted patient Dinh Tan Nhat (24 years old) with burns all over his body. "The patient suffered 80% deep burns and his condition is getting worse," said a doctor from the Department of Orthopedic Surgery and Burn Surgery.
Sitting dejectedly by her son's hospital bed, the mother said that the previous afternoon, Nhat drove to his girlfriend's family's cow farm in Cam Ranh City, went into a tin-roofed hut, locked the door and committed suicide.
The girl's father, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Muoi (46 years old), discovered it and ran with a young man. He saw Nhat pouring gasoline on himself and lighting it on fire, burning like a torch. Mr. Muoi immediately broke the door and rushed in to save him. He also suffered 4% burns and is being treated at Cam Ranh Regional Hospital.
According to the mother, Nhat and Mr. Muoi's son have been in love for many years. The two families have met and planned to marry them. "A few months ago, the girl's parents suddenly forbade their relationship. Since then, my son's spirit has been broken, showing many unusual signs," Nhat's mother shared.
Regarding this issue, the girl's family admitted that they agreed to let their daughter fall in love with Nhat and planned to marry him, but then changed their mind. "We discovered that our future son-in-law had strange behavior when he came to live with us for a while," the girl's mother said.
She said that for nearly four months now, her family has not allowed her to see Nhat and has asked her to end the relationship. Since then, Nhat has repeatedly come to her family to try to commit suicide.
"In February, he tied a rope to a tree branch in the farm and tried to hang himself. Luckily, people discovered him in time. The family did not agree to let their daughter marry such a man," she said.
Cam Ranh City Police examined and worked with relevant people to investigate.
