Upgrading DNA testing facilities to support the identification of remains of fallen soldiers.

On November 9th, Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Cung, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Member of the Standing Committee of the Central Military Commission, and Deputy Minister of National Defense, inspected and assessed the progress and results of the investment project to upgrade the DNA testing facility, serving the work of identifying the remains of fallen soldiers, at the Military Forensic Institute, Department of Military Medicine.

Implemented since the beginning of 2015, the project has basically completed all bidding packages. 51 out of 53 pieces of equipment have been invested in, purchased, and installed, ready for testing and quality control before being put into use. The Military Forensic Institute strives to focus on implementing the project on schedule, ensuring quality and efficiency to better serve gene testing and the identification of the remains of fallen soldiers in the future.

After directly inspecting the newly installed equipment at the Military Forensic Institute and listening to the unit's report on the project's implementation results, Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Cung commended and highly appreciated the unit's achievements in fulfilling its tasks over the past period, especially the progress and results of the project's implementation. He emphasized that the current need for DNA testing to identify the remains of fallen soldiers is very great, in order to meet the aspirations of their relatives.

The Deputy Minister requested the Military Forensic Institute to actively implement the work contents of the project as outlined, while continuing to cultivate highly qualified human resources to effectively utilize new and modern technical equipment. The relevant agencies of the Ministry of National Defense, with a focus on the Military Medical Department and the Policy Department, need to coordinate closely and create favorable conditions for the Military Forensic Institute to successfully complete its assigned tasks.
