Upgrading the worst roads in Vinh city center.

Quang An January 11, 2025 07:55

Nguyen Gia Thieu Street in Hung Dung Ward is considered the worst-looking street in Vinh City's inner city, having been severely degraded for many years. Currently, Vinh City is carrying out temporary repairs on a section of the road to allow residents to celebrate Tet (Lunar New Year), with plans to upgrade the entire street in the future.

As an inner-city road with a large volume of people and vehicles passing through daily, Nguyen Gia Thieu Street in Hung Dung Ward, Vinh City, has been in a state of disrepair for many years, posing a danger to road users and detracting from the urban landscape.

According to observations, Nguyen Gia Thieu road, despite being only about 1km long, is riddled with damaged sections and potholes. In many places, the road surface has completely peeled off, exposing large stones. This road is near a school, a ward health station, businesses, and the Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital and the Nghe An Oncology Hospital, resulting in a large volume of daily traffic for students and workers. Numerous accidents and collisions occur on this road, especially on rainy days.

In response to this situation, Vinh City has approved a project to renovate and upgrade Nguyen Gia Thieu Street in Hung Dung Ward.

This is a Group B project, aiming to renovate and upgrade Nguyen Gia Thieu Street in accordance with the zoning plan of Hung Dung Ward. The road is 900 meters long, starting at the intersection with Vo Nguyen Hien Street and ending at the intersection with Ton That Tung Street. The planned road width is 24 meters, including a 12-meter-wide road surface and 6-meter-wide sidewalks on both sides. The project includes items such as: asphalt concrete road surface, sidewalks, curbs, drainage ditches, electricity and water supply systems, lighting, drainage, utility trenches, and landscaping. The total investment is over 256 billion VND. The total land area expected to be acquired for the project in Hung Dung Ward is 20,874.3 m².

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Khanh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hung Dung Ward, said: "The upgrading of Nguyen Gia Thieu road has been a long-awaited desire of the people and the local government for many years, as it is the worst road in the area. Currently, the ward is coordinating with city units to verify land ownership and carry out land clearance procedures to hand over the land to the construction unit for early road upgrading."

Currently, Vinh City is directing vehicles and machinery to carry out temporary repairs and compaction of Nguyen Gia Thieu road to facilitate traffic during the Tet holiday. The upgrading of the entire road will be implemented after the Lunar New Year once all procedures and site preparation are complete.
