(Baonghean.vn) - From the beginning of 2021 until now, by combining capital sources from project programs, Nghe An has upgraded and built many new electric pumping stations on the Dao Ba Ra Do Luong canal system and an active pumping system to serve summer-autumn irrigation.

Faced with the current situation of the pump system being degraded and operating inefficiently, in recent years, Yen Thanh district has focused on investing in building an electric pumping station system.

A worker at the electric pump cluster in Ly Thanh commune, districtYen Thanh(belonging to Yen Thanh Irrigation Enterprise) said: The electric pumping station system of Ly Thanh commune was built in 1980, and has been seriously degraded for a long time. Before starting the machine, the pump must be "dried" for 2-3 hours. Sometimes, while operating, the pump breaks down and has to be stopped for repair, not responding promptly to irrigation water service.

Since the beginning of 2022, the Ly Thanh pumping station has been newly built by the State, including a suction tank, discharge tank, pump, and operating house. In particular, the pump is imported with European technology, the pump is submerged underwater, no need to "prime" water. There is an automatic sensor system, when the river water dries up, the pump automatically turns off the power. Thanks to the new investment in construction, the Ly Thanh commune electric pumping station has pumped water, ensuring irrigation for hundreds of hectares of rice during the hot season.

Mr. Le Van Hong - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Yen Thanh district added: From the beginning of 2022 until now, by integrating capital sources from project programs, Yen Thanh district has upgraded and newly built 12electric pumping stationon the Dao Ba canal system to Do Luong and the pumping system.

Thanks to that, we have proactively provided irrigation water for the summer-autumn crop on over 4,000 hectares concentrated in the communes of Dai Thanh, Ly Thanh, Trung Thanh, Nam Thanh, Tang Thanh, Bac Thanh... Farmers in communes with newly invested electric pumping systems no longer have to worry because water is promptly regulated to the end of the canal, and people do not have to spend time and money to pump oil on the field.

In the coming time, Yen Thanh district will focus on completing and consolidating the canal system, upgrading and replacing the remaining old pumping stations to ensure water for rice irrigation.

In the past 2 years, Do Luong district has also invested in many new pumping stations. Currently, two new electric pumping stations, Van Trang 1 and Van Trang 2, in Van Son commune, have been completed. Mr. Nguyen Dinh Ban - manager of Do Luong Irrigation Enterprise said: Previously, the two pumping stations were old and outdated, with vertical pumps, but now they have been replaced with submersible pumps, 3 generators, and an operating house have been rebuilt... the current capacity of both stations is over 20,000 m3/h ensures irrigation for 1,700 hectares of rice.

In addition, on the Khuon River system (source pump), 18 new pumping stations have been invested in, reaching a capacity of 800 m3Pumping stations are concentrated in the communes of Yen Son, Thai Son, Quang Son, Thuong Son...

Mr. Tran Ngoc Thuan - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Do Luong district added: For a long time, the electric pumping station system in Do Luong district has been degraded, operating inefficiently, and wasting a lot of electricity. From 2021 to now, with State capital and projects, Do Luong district has invested in 20 electric pumping stations, currently stably irrigating over 4,500 hectares of rice.

According to the report of Nghe An Irrigation Department, from 2020 to now, the whole province has invested in building and upgrading over 110 electric pumping stations worth over 600 billion VND, the investment capital of the State and JICA project (Japan) is assigned to irrigation units and localities for management. The most invested electric pumping stations are mainly located along the Dao Ba canal system to Do Luong, Yen Thanh, Dien Chau districts...

In the long term, localities in Nghe An are continuing to attract investment, planning to rebuild the remaining old pumping stations synchronously, bringing efficiency in irrigation for agricultural production.
