Eternal energy
(Baonghean) - This year's 87th anniversary of the founding of the Party has a difference compared to other years. That is, the entire Party is striving to implement Resolution No. 4 of the Central Committee (12th Congress) on strengthening Party building and rectification; preventing and repelling the decline in political ideology, morality, and lifestyle, and the manifestations of "self-evolution" and "self-transformation" within the Party.
Throughout history, from its founding to the present day, every time the Party has focused on self-reflection and rectification, the Vietnamese revolution has achieved a new stage of development, elevating the country and the nation to a new level. It's worth remembering that in 1939, just nine years after its founding, the key issues facing the revolution were correctly resolving the relationship between nation and class; the goals and methods of the revolution; building and rectifying the Party, correcting deviations in the democratic movement, and strengthening unity of will and action within the Party; and summarizing the Party's experiences during the period of the Democratic Front. The then General Secretary of the Party, Comrade Nguyen Van Cu, wrote the work "Self-Criticism," emphasizing that criticizing the Party was to unify thought, to improve oneself, to enhance the Party's prestige and influence, and to make the Party stronger and the revolution more developed.
Six years after self-criticism, with only 5,000 party members, our Party led the people to victory in the August Revolution, seizing power and establishing the first worker-peasant state in Southeast Asia. Before launching the Dien Bien Phu campaign, our Party conducted a widespread "political re-education and military rectification" campaign. This led to the Dien Bien Phu victory, "renowned throughout the world and shaking the earth," successfully concluding the nine-year protracted resistance war. After the great victory of Spring 1975, the country was reunified, and the whole nation advanced towards socialism, but then fell into a serious socio-economic crisis; our Party decided to implement reforms.
In the early stages of the reform period, obstacles emerged. The then General Secretary of the Party, Comrade Nguyen Van Linh, directly wrote articles in the column "Things That Need to Be Done Immediately" published in the Nhan Dan newspaper to combat, prevent, repel, and eliminate negativity in the thoughts and actions of cadres, Party members, and in the Party and State apparatus from the central to local levels. From the spirit of "Things That Need to Be Done Immediately," the Party issued important resolutions on Party building and rectification, such as: Resolution No. 6 of the Central Committee (second session, 8th term), Resolution No. 4 of the Central Committee (11th term)...
Thanks to this, we have had 30 years of successful reforms, bringing the country to a new level of development. However, along with these great achievements, dangers threatening the survival of the Party and the regime have emerged, even within the ranks themselves. To prevent and repel these dangers, our Party continued to issue Resolution No. 4 of the Central Committee (12th Congress) on strengthening Party building and rectification; preventing and repelling the decline in political ideology, morality, and lifestyle, and the manifestations of "self-evolution" and "self-transformation" within the Party. Immediately, the Resolution became a new source of vitality, igniting the flame of revolutionary enthusiasm in millions of cadres and Party members, meeting the expectations of all strata of the people; and strengthening and enhancing confidence in the Party's leadership.
In the first year of implementing the Resolution of the 12th National Congress of the Party, we achieved the largest foreign exchange reserves ever. The number of newly established businesses reached its highest level ever. Foreign investment in our country also reached a record high… These are powerful proofs that our country is about to enter a new phase of rapid, strong, and sustainable development.
Thus, it can be seen that the Party's continuous self-improvement and self-rectification, aimed at purifying and strengthening itself, has become an inexhaustible intrinsic strength, enabling it to stand firm against all challenges and adapt to all circumstances. This is the eternal energy that allows the Party to endure with the country and the nation, and to move the country and the nation forward.
