Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong in Hamlet 9, Nghi My Commune (Nghi Loc) said that her family grows 100 lemon trees, and last year's crop yielded 700 kg. This year, they only harvested 500 kg, but in return, the selling price is higher, the price at the garden is 12,000 VND/kg, and if they are transported to Nghi Dien Commune to import directly to the agent, it is 14,000 VND/kg. This crop, her family has an income of more than 7 million VND.
Currently, in Nghi Dien commune, there are 14 agents specializing in purchasing lemons to bring to the northern provinces such as Nam Dinh, Hai Duong, Thai Binh, Hanoi, Hai Phong for consumption. According to the owners of the agents, this year the price has increased by about 5,000 VND/kg compared to last year's crop.
Ms. Dau Thi Ngoc in Hamlet 1, Nghi Dien Commune - owner of a lemon purchasing agency said: "The current purchase price is 14,000 VND/kg, transporting to Hanoi sells for 16,000 VND/kg; on average, I purchase 10 tons of lemons per day; after deducting transportation and labor costs, I earn 3 million VND/day".

On average, agents purchase more than 100 tons of lemons every day. Through these agents, jobs have been created for hundreds of workers. Lemons here are purchased and transported during the day, so regardless of the hot sun, by noon traders from all over the place bring their goods to agents to have time to select and classify the lemons before packing them in boxes and sending them to Hanoi.
To ensure that the lemons reach Hanoi while still being fresh and delicious, before being packed in boxes, the dealers must carefully select them to remove rough and dry fruits. Lemons in Nghe An are famous for being juicy, thin-skinned, and having a special aroma, so they are very popular with traders in Hanoi and the northern provinces.
Although the yield of this year’s lemon crop is lower than the previous crop, the price has increased, so lemon growers have more income. Those who do business in lemon are also happy because they have promoted their hometown products to the markets of the northern provinces.
