Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong, residing in Hamlet 9, Nghi My Commune (Nghi Loc District), stated that her family cultivates 100 lemon trees and harvested 7 quintals last year. This year, they only harvested 5 quintals, but the higher selling price compensated for it. The price at the farm was 12,000 VND/kg, and if transported directly to Nghi Dien Commune for distribution to dealers, the price reached 14,000 VND/kg. This season, her family earned over 7 million VND.

Currently, there are 14 agencies in Nghi Dien commune specializing in purchasing lemons to distribute to northern provinces such as Nam Dinh, Hai Duong, Thai Binh, Hanoi, and Hai Phong for consumption. According to the agency owners, this year the price has increased by about 5,000 VND/kg compared to last year's harvest.

Ms. Dau Thi Ngoc, residing in Hamlet 1, Nghi Dien Commune, and the owner of a lemon purchasing agency, stated: "The current purchase price is 14,000 VND/kg, and after transporting it to Hanoi, it sells for 16,000 VND/kg; on average, I purchase 10 tons of lemons per day; after deducting transportation and labor costs, I earn 3 million VND per day."

The lemon trading village in Nghi Dien commune (Nghi Loc district) has been established for decades. Every year, from around June to December, when the lemon season is in full swing, traders from all over the province and beyond transport lemons to Nghi Dien to sell to distributors.

On average, the purchasing agents buy more than 100 tons of lemons daily. These agents have provided employment for hundreds of workers. Lemons here are purchased and transported on the same day; therefore, regardless of the scorching sun, by noon traders from all over bring their goods to the agents for sorting and classification before packing them for shipment to Hanoi.

To ensure that the lemons arrive in Hanoi fresh and delicious, before packing them, wholesalers must carefully select them to remove any rough or dry ones. Lemons from Nghe An are famous for being juicy, having thin skins, and a distinctive aroma, making them highly sought after by traders in Hanoi and other northern provinces.

Although this year's lemon harvest yielded less than the previous season, the higher prices compensated for this, bringing in additional income for lemon growers. Those involved in the lemon business are also pleased because they have promoted their local product to markets in the northern provinces.
