Despite unfavorable production conditions due to prolonged drought and pest infestations, most communes, with their experience in intensive farming, have structured their crops using short-day, high-yielding purebred rice varieties such as Khang Dan mutant, Thien Uu 8, Bac Thom, Song Lam 9, and some hybrid rice varieties suitable for the soil such as Thai Xuyen 111, VT404, Thuy Huong...
With their experience in intensive farming, farmers have made efforts to overcome drought difficulties right from the beginning of the season; they have effectively applied scientific and technical measures, combined with intensive investment according to each growth cycle of the rice plant.
Due to early planting, most of the early summer-autumn rice crop was not infected by the 5th and 6th generations of leaf-rolling caterpillars, and other pests and diseases were minimized, resulting in higher average yields at the end of the season compared to previous years.
