National Interest warns of a 'crazy' move by the West.

According to an article in the National Interest magazine published on the same day, as reported by TASS news agency on December 11, NATO could make a "crazy" decision by deploying B-61 nuclear bombs in Poland or Ukraine.

According to the article, after the US and its NATO allies rejected any opportunity to de-escalate tensions in the conflict in Ukraine and allowed Kyiv to launch attacks with Western-made long-range missiles deep into Russian territory, the possibility of deploying nuclear weapons in Poland or even possibly in Ukraine should be seriously considered.

Sources suggest that, if this were the case, the transfer of US-made B-61 nuclear bombs would seem to be the most likely scenario.

However, the magazine emphasized that the West allowing the deployment or transfer of nuclear weapons to Ukraine, a non-NATO country, "is fundamentally insane."

The article adds that, earlier, Poland had declared its readiness to equip its fleet of US-made F-35 Lightning II fighter jets with US-made B-61 nuclear bombs.

First developed in the early 1960s in the United States, "the B-61 bomb has been deployed in Belgium, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, and Türkiye over the years," the article notes.

The magazine explained that these bombs could also be dropped from the US long-range nuclear stealth bombers B-2 Spirit, F-15E, and F-35.

According to TASS, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated on December 5th that the scenario of the Kiev government possessing nuclear weapons is completely unacceptable. The Russian diplomat emphasized that Moscow is determined to prevent this scenario from happening.
