NATO accuses Russia of building up military potential in Crimea
NATO has accused Russia of building up its military potential in Crimea and the Black Sea and will respond by increasing its presence in the region, alliance Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said after the second day of the alliance's meeting.
NATO's accusations
"We have reviewed the security situation in the strategically important Black Sea region. Russia continues to violate the territorial integrity of Georgia and Ukraine, continues to build up its military strength in Crimea and increasingly deploys forces in the Black Sea region. NATO is responding to this by strengthening its presence on land, at sea and in the air," Mr. Stoltenberg said.
NATO calls for reinforcementpresence in the Black Sea
Earlier, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg announced that NATO foreign ministers would discuss the Alliance's activities in the Black Sea region during a video conference on Wednesday, which will also include the ministers of Georgia and Ukraine. He also once again accused Russia of "violating the territorial integrity" of Ukraine and Georgia, noting that "Russia is increasing its military presence in Crimea."
