According to RIA Novosti on August 3, ERR Television and Radio Company reported with the reference of the Estonian Ministry of Defense that NATO may deploy a German-Dutch allied army corps in the Estonian city of Pärnu.

“In the case of a positive scenario, the base of the corps should be the city of Pärnu. It is expected that a final decision will be made within the next year,” the message said.

Within the framework of the deployment of the Allied Corps in Estonia, the alliance will build infrastructure for 100-200 people, including headquarters buildings, technical rooms and necessary communications. The Estonian Ministry of Defense plans to allocate 17 million euros for this, the article said.

“This will affect not only our allies performing command functions, but also Estonian military personnel, including conscripts. This is a strategically important step for the Defense Forces,” ERR quotes Estonian Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur as saying.

Additionally, according to the Wall Street Journal, NATO countries will voluntarily donate money to the alliance's new account to purchase US weapons for Ukraine.

"Ukrainian backers would create a new NATO custodial account to allow allies to buy US weapons for Ukraine, worth billions of dollars. The idea is that NATO allies would voluntarily donate money to a new account," the Wall Street Journal said, citing three Western officials.

Notably, the new commander of NATO's Armed Forces in Europe, General Alexis Grinkevich, will be responsible for analyzing the weapons requested by Kiev. At the same time, the weapons will be sent after "comparing Ukraine's requirements with the US military needs". At the initial stage, it is expected to spend about $ 10 billion on weapons.
