NATO launches Poseidon 2023 naval exercise
(Baonghean.vn) - According to TASS news agency, the mine response drill attracted more than 750 participants from 9 NATO member countries.

Specifically, Romanian radio reported that NATO launched a multinational naval exercise called Poseidon 2023 in the Romanian port of Constanta on July 15.
The mine countermeasures exercise attracted the participation of 750 soldiers from nine NATO member countries: Belgium, Bulgaria, France, Greece, Italy, Romania, Türkiye, the United Kingdom and the United States. The exercise was organized and coordinated by the Romanian Navy.
“We conduct these exercises to ensure that shipping in this area is mine-free, in such a way that whenever such a device is detected, we are ready to neutralize it,” said Romanian Navy Rear Admiral Corneliu Eudjen Kozakaru.
The exercise, which is hosted by Romania and Bulgaria on a yearly basis, will be held this year in the port of Constanta and at training areas in the western Black Sea. The Romanian Navy will test the Regina Maria corvette for participation in the NATO Response Force as part of the force package Romania has provided to NATO and the European Union. Poseidon 2023 will also include time to practice inter-agency cooperation in the event of a high-casualty natural disaster.
