NATO has no plans to upgrade its nuclear weapons.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that NATO has no plans to increase the number of nuclear weapons.

Following a meeting with US President Joe Biden in Washington, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg stated that NATO has no plans to increase the number of nuclear weapons as part of its modernization and capability development.
"NATO has no plans to develop nuclear weapons. This is nothing new. We are modernizing, replacing older aircraft with fifth-generation aircraft," said Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.
According to the Secretary-General, NATO has been undergoing such modernization for some time and “ensures transparency in the process.”
Furthermore, Stoltenberg emphasized that NATO's goal is a world without nuclear weapons, "but as long as nuclear weapons exist, we will remain a nuclear alliance. Because a world where Russia, China, and North Korea have nuclear weapons, and NATO does not, would be a more dangerous world."
The NATO Secretary General also expressed particular concern about what he called China's "increasing nuclear capability." Accordingly, NATO could soon face "something they have never faced before: two potential adversaries using nuclear energy," including China and Russia.
