NATO has no plans to upgrade nuclear weapons
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said NATO has no plans to increase the number of nuclear weapons.

After meeting with US President Joe Biden in Washington, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that NATO has no plans to increase the number of nuclear weapons in the modernization and development of capabilities.
“NATO has no plans to develop nuclear weapons. This is nothing new. We are modernizing, replacing old aircraft with new fifth-generation aircraft,” said Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.
According to the Secretary General, NATO has been carrying out such modernization for some time and “ensuring the transparency of the process”.
In addition, Mr. Stoltenberg emphasized, NATO's goal is a world without nuclear weapons, "but as long as nuclear weapons exist, we will remain a nuclear alliance. Because a world where Russia, China and North Korea have nuclear weapons, and NATO does not, will be a more dangerous world."
The NATO Secretary General also expressed particular concern about what he called China’s “growing nuclear capabilities.” NATO could soon face “something it has never faced before, which is two potential nuclear-powered adversaries,” including China and Russia.
