Security in Europe cannot exist without Russia

European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said that lifting sanctions against Russia in the near future is not possible, but according to him, the European Union needs to treat Russia as an equal partner.

The President of the European Commission declared that European security is indispensable without Russia.

"At the moment I don't see any reason to lift the sanctions against Russia. But I would like to see an agreement between us and Russia that goes beyond the usual framework. Without Russia, it is impossible to build security in Europe," said the European official.

Mr. Juncker reminded that Russia owns a territory three times larger than Europe. The Russian Federation should be respected as a "great nation and a proud people" and should be talked to as an equal.
