Neymar wouldn't be foolish enough to leave Barcelona!

(Baonghean.vn) - Several reputable newspapers in Brazil and Spain have reported that the 25-year-old star is preparing to leave Barcelona to join PSG in the coming days. If this information is true, it would be a step backward in Neymar's career.

The Brazilian player's release clause is 222 million euros – a paltry sum for the French club's financial resources. If Neymar agrees, President Al Khelaifi is ready to instruct his subordinates to bring suitcases full of cash to Catalonia immediately.

In the PSG-Neymar saga, the Camp Nou team is merely an outsider. Once Neymar and PSG reach an agreement, Barcelona will have no choice but to watch the Brazilian striker pack his bags and leave the club. In other words, the ultimate decision rests in the hands of Neymar and PSG.

Naturally, neither the new coach Ernesto Valverde, the Barcelona board, nor the Cules want that scenario to happen. Losing Neymar would severely impact the strength of the "Catalan giants." Their ambitions to conquer La Liga and the Champions League would be difficult to realize, at least not in the 2017/2018 season.

What the Camp Nou team can do right now is try their best to convince Neymar to stay. If the 1992-born star rejects PSG's offer, the "bomb" will be defused. Although the chances for Barcelona are quite slim, it is not impossible to achieve.

Based on two fundamental reasons that might explain why Neymar no longer wants to stay at Camp Nou: PSG's higher salary compared to Barcelona and Messi's overwhelming presence – as speculated by the press. At first glance, this seems logical, but upon closer examination, something seems...wrong.

It's true that Neymar's current salary is second only to Messi's at Camp Nou. However, the 25-year-old will undoubtedly surpass his senior counterpart in the near future. To retain a star of Neymar's caliber, Barcelona never hesitates to spend money on a new contract.

Furthermore, last season, Neymar had more opportunities to shine as Messi accepted a more secondary role, allowing his younger teammate to excel. Winning all the club titles meant Messi was no longer overly focused on individual competitions.

Lately, people have begun to notice Neymar's strong rise at Camp Nou. The leading role in the attack is gradually shifting from Messi's shoulders to the Brazilian star's, just as Ronaldinho handed it over to Messi. Therefore, Neymar has nothing to worry about regarding his future.

There is no better place than Barcelona for the player born in 1992 to win the Ballon d'Or. Besides his familiar environment, Neymar is surrounded by a host of top stars of world football – they will be the springboard to take him to a new level.

Regarding PSG, Neymar doesn't have those favorable conditions. The Parc des Princes club is still just a "nouveau riche" club in European football. For PSG to reach the same level as Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Bayern Munich, it's likely they won't even come close by the time Neymar retires.

The second leg of last season's Champions League quarter-final between Barcelona and PSG (6-1) was proof of the French team's class. Although they couldn't win the most prestigious European club competition, PSG helped star player Neymar win the Ballon d'Or.

If winning the Ligue 1 title were the only way to win the Ballon d'Or, Ibrahimovic, Cavani, and others would have each won several already. Therefore, joining PSG would be a step backward in Neymar's career. The Brazilian star would be foolish to accept that.

Responding to rumors about his future at Barca, Neymar said: “Last season was my best season at Barca. I adapted quickly to life in the city, to the team, and I feel happy here.”
