According to Foreign Minister Lavrov, Kyiv's idea of driving Russian forces out of eastern Ukraine and the Crimean Peninsula with Western assistance is "an illusion." Furthermore, the head of Russian diplomacy believes that current Ukrainian politicians lack negotiation skills, and most of them hold absolutely anti-Russian views.
Furthermore, Foreign Minister Lavrov argued that the West has turned the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) into an arena for propaganda battles, and that Poland's chairmanship has rendered the organization ineffective. The Russian Foreign Minister also reiterated that the OSCE was established to serve as a forum for equal dialogue and cooperation, but in recent years, the organization has fallen into a deep crisis.
Previously, Poland, the current chair of the OSCE, refused to allow Mr. Lavrov to attend the meeting of the OSCE Council of Foreign Ministers (CMFA) in Lodz, Poland, on December 1st and 2nd. The Russian Foreign Minister asserted that, in his capacity as OSCE chair, Warsaw was leading the organization "to a point worse than ever before in its history."
