"The testing of new electromagnetic weapons is ongoing in the laboratory and in real-world environments. We have developed microwave weapon systems and achieved considerable success."TASSAccording to Vladimir Mikheyev, advisor to the director of the Russian Radio-Electronic Technologies Corporation (KRET), the statement was made yesterday.
These weapon systems can disable enemy electronic equipment, such as communication systems and missile seekers. In addition, KRET is also researching countermeasures against similar enemy weapons. Russia is also planning to develop small-scale electromagnetic cannons for equipping 6th-generation unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
KRET is one of Russia's leading defense corporations in the field of radio electronics. Many of KRET's modern equipment has been deployed in practice, such as the Krasukha-4 electronic warfare system currently operating at the Hmeymim air base in Syria.
Mikheyev announced last week that Russia is about to deploy advanced electronic warfare systems to Syria capable of monitoring Syrian airspace and tracking military activity across a vast area, including the movements of Israeli fighter jets as soon as they take off from the runway.
