Russia warns US not to deploy nuclear weapons in UK
(Baonghean.vn) - According to Ria Novosti, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that Russia warned the US not to deploy tactical nuclear weapons to the UK.

"On the subject of the hypothetical return of US tactical nuclear weapons to the territory of the UK, I would like to warn in the clearest and most severe way about this destabilizing step," said Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov.
According to diplomat Ryabkov, such actions by the US will not help strengthen the security of the UK and the US, nor will they become a deterrent for Russia. Meanwhile, the deployment of nuclear weapons only increases the level of escalation and the overall threat in Europe.
"We believe that, despite the rather sad experience of recent years from the point of view of ensuring European security, the hotheads in London and Washington have not learned any lessons from these realities. Therefore, the scenario of the US deploying nuclear weapons in the UK is quite possible," the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister added.
Mr. Ryakov noted that NATO has long declared itself a nuclear alliance. According to Ryakov, in the current context, this is no longer a slogan but "a harsh reality". Therefore, in its military planning, Russia will have to take into account the potential of all countries that have nuclear weapons and are members of NATO. Mr. Ryakov believes that the British arsenal will tend to increase rapidly in quantity.
Deputy Foreign Minister Ryakov also stressed that Moscow had not received any direct signals from Washington or London on the nuclear issue. According to Mr. Ryakov, Russia had other basic conditions to monitor what had happened and draw conclusions.
Russian diplomat calls on US-led NATO countries to stop further escalation. This is becoming increasingly dangerous.
Previously, on January 26, the Telegraph (UK) cited a Pentagon document saying that the US was planning to deploy nuclear weapons in the UK for the first time in 15 years, due to "the growing threat from Russia"./.
