Russia accuses the US of plotting a color revolution in Georgia
According to TASS news agency on August 26, the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) said that the US is preparing to carry out a color revolution to prevent the ruling Georgian Dream - Democratic Georgia party from winning the parliamentary election in October.

Accordingly, the White House is "extremely dissatisfied with the situation in Georgia" ahead of the parliamentary elections on October 26 in this country. SVR emphasized, "the Americans are preparing a color revolution in Georgia".
"At the 'Tbilisi maidan' they plan to publicize 'evidence of fraud' in voting, declare non-recognition of election results and demand a change of power. Law enforcement agencies will be provoked to suppress the protests by force," the Russian intelligence agency said.
At the same time, according to the source, the Americans are coming up with options for a "ruthless" political and economic response to the government's "excessive" use of force against "peace-loving citizens."
The SVR press service stressed that in preparation for the color revolution, "Georgian pro-Western NGOs are recruiting a large number of people to closely monitor the voting process."
“They are tasked with identifying and documenting ‘impending events’ involving the use of administrative resources by the authorities even when they do not exist. Washington is providing additional funding to local opposition youth associations, which are expected to become the ‘motorboats’ of post-election protests,” the SVR added.
Russia's intelligence agency also pointed out that "Georgian opposition forces controlled by Washington remain divided despite US efforts, and the alliances they have created remain fragile."
"In this context, the ruling Georgian Dream party may gain public support. Therefore, the United States is concerned that politicians will be "unleashed" to continue their sovereign course, refusing to comply with Western demands, which are directly contrary to Georgia's national interests," the SVR press office said.
According to the intelligence agency, "the White House considers such a scenario unacceptable." "The Americans intend to turn up the heat on the Georgian authorities on a large scale in the weeks remaining before the elections in order to weaken the electoral position of the Georgian Dream as much as possible. They plan to use a 'tested and proven tool': personal sanctions against senior party leaders, their family members, as well as party patrons," the SVR said.
