Russian aircraft designers plan to build a giant supersonic cargo plane capable of delivering tanks to the battlefield in just a few hours.

According to Sputnik News, the PAK TA (Perspective Airborne Complex of Transport Aviation) heavy cargo plane can fly at supersonic speeds up to 2,000 km/h, carry 200 tons of cargo, and has a range of 7,000 km.

Russia will produce 80 PAK TA aircraft by 2024, enabling it to deliver 400 heavy tanks or 900 light armored vehicles to the battlefield in a shorter time than before.

The project is being implemented by Ilyushin Aviation Complex. According to Viktor Livanov, the company's president, the project could be completed by 2030, and the specific technical details are still being finalized.

The PAK TA project has been underway for several years. This project aims to replace Russia's current fleet of heavy transport aircraft, which includes the Antonov An-22 Antei (60-ton capacity) and the Antonov An-124 Ruslan (120-ton capacity).

The only operational aircraft with a payload capacity comparable to the PAK TA is the An-225 Mriya, produced for the Soviet Union's Buran space shuttle program.
