According to RIA Novosti's analysis on September 15 based on statistical data from countries, Russia has the lowest unemployment rate among the Group of 20 major economies (G20) by the end of the second quarter of 2025, while this rate increases the most in Mexico.

Russia's unemployment rate in June hit a record low of 2.2%, down 0.1 percentage points from March. This is the lowest among all the world's largest economies.

Japan's unemployment rate edged up slightly to 2.5%, remaining at that level for the second consecutive quarter. In South Korea, the rate fell in the past three months to 2.6% from 2.9% in March. Meanwhile, Mexico's unemployment rate rose 0.5 percentage points, the highest among all G20 countries in the past three months, to 2.7%.

The only country with double-digit unemployment in the second quarter was South Africa. The economy remains in a state of disarray, and for the second consecutive quarter, unemployment in South Africa continued to rise, reaching 33.2% in June, up from 32.9% in March.

Outside of Mexico and South Africa, Türkiye saw the biggest increase in unemployment in the second quarter, up 0.4 percentage points to 8.4%.
