Russia and Belarus are jointly developing the fifth generation of the Su-75.
Russia will jointly develop the fifth-generation Su-75 fighter jet with Belarus.
According to RIA Novosti on November 19, Alexander Mikheev, General Director of Rosoboronexport (part of the state-owned Rostec corporation), shared at an exhibition in Dubai that Russia intends to jointly develop the Su-75 Checkmate fifth-generation light fighter aircraft with Belarus.
"Rosoboronexport is currently working on the issue of joint production of the fifth-generation Su-75 Checkmate fighter jet with Belarusian partners. Interest in this aircraft remains in the Middle East and Asia-Pacific regions," said General Director Alexander Mikheev.
For the first time, Sukhoi's Su-75 development variants were presented at the MAKS-2021 air show. The fighter jet model was showcased at the Dubai Airshow 2021.
General Director Mikheev previously reported that Checkmate could become a platform for co-developing a new aircraft with partners from other countries.
Furthermore, Mr. Mikheev also mentioned the fifth-generation Su-57 fighter jet, which has combat effectiveness comparable to the American F-35. At the same time, he emphasized that Russia's mission is not to replace the F-35 in foreign markets, as that "is a matter of demand."
The Dubai Airshow is one of the world's leading exhibitions in the aerospace and defense industry. This year's forum takes place from November 17th to 21st in Dubai.
