Russia supplied China with a record-breaking $737 million worth of natural gas via pipeline in June 2024.

According to RIA Novosti's analysis of Chinese customs data, in June 2024, Russia supplied China with gas via pipeline worth up to $737 million.
Consequently, the cost of supplies at the beginning of summer increased by 3.4% monthly and 29% annually – reaching $737 million, marking a new high for bilateral trade between the two countries.
Previously, Russian pipeline gas exports to China had only exceeded $700 million twice, with $713 million delivered in both May and February.
At the same time, in the first six months of 2024, Russia's supply increased by 17.4% – to nearly $4 billion, compared to $3.4 billion in the period from January to June 2023. Furthermore, exports have increased 13-fold over the past five years.
Turkmenistan remained China's largest pipeline gas supplier in the first half of this year, although its exports declined slightly – down to $4.8 billion from $5.1 billion a year earlier. Other countries supplying gas to China included Myanmar (worth $680 million), Kazakhstan ($559 million), and Uzbekistan ($235 million).
