In recent years, Russia has supplied Syria with up to 40 "Pantsir-S1" anti-aircraft missile-artillery systems to protect against air attacks, according to a source in the Russian military who spoke to Sputnik.

Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Defense stated that in the early hours of Monday morning, Syria's Tifor airfield was attacked by guided cruise missiles fired by two Israeli Air Force F-15 fighter jets — three missiles hit their targets, five others were shot down by Syrian air defenses, and Russian advisers at the facility suffered no casualties. According to data from the SANA news agency, the attack resulted in casualties.

"Russia has delivered up to 40 'Pantsir-S1' anti-aircraft missile-artillery systems to Syria to counter airborne attacks. This is about exports, not supplies through the Ministry of Defense," — the source said, without elaborating on specific details.
