According to RIA Novosti on December 17, General Sergei Karakaev, commander of the Strategic Missile Forces, stated that Russia is finalizing the development of a series of missile systems that are just as effective as Avangard and Oreshnik.
On Strategic Missile Forces Day, General Karakaev stated: “Domestic intercontinental ballistic missiles equipped with new types of warheads are essentially almost invulnerable. Today the whole world knows about them – these are the hypersonic units of the Avangard complex and the hypersonic units of the Oreshnik complex.”
According to General Karakaev, in the final stage of development, a range of weapons are equally effective. Therefore, now is not the right time to discuss them in detail.
In addition, Russia plans to continue developing its existing scientific and technical platform in the areas of camouflage and visibility reduction of missiles and warheads, and to modify the trajectory-ballistic capabilities of intercontinental ballistic missiles and their combat systems. General Karakaev added that the creation of fire control and information destruction, reconnaissance, control, and attack capabilities for missile defense systems is underway.
In addition, General Karakaev stated that the Strategic Missile Forces' mobile group has been fully equipped with modern missile weapons, and priority plans for 2025 include re-equipping missile divisions where Topol-M missiles are currently deployed with Yars missile systems.
The commander also stated that the Strategic Missile Forces' proposal in the state weapons program is primarily to develop the platform for the Sarmat and Osina systems, as well as several new systems.
