Russia reports that Iran intercepted a US AGM-158 JASSM stealth missile.
Russian media reported that Iran's AD-08 Majid air defense system successfully intercepted an AGM-158 JASSM cruise missile, a state-of-the-art stealth weapon that Ukraine is hoping to acquire.
According to Russian media reports, amid escalating tensions, Iran's air defense system reportedly successfully intercepted a US-made AGM-158 JASSM stealth cruise missile. This information is attracting significant attention from international military observers, particularly regarding the potential for a confrontation between Western stealth weapons and Tehran's domestically produced defense systems.

The technological prowess of the AGM-158 JASSM missile.
The AGM-158 JASSM (Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile) is one of the most advanced standoff weapons in the U.S. Air Force. This missile is designed with superior stealth capabilities, minimizing its radar cross-section and allowing it to penetrate dense air defense networks.

In terms of destructive power, the JASSM possesses a warhead weighing approximately 450 kg, capable of penetrating more than 24 meters into the ground or piercing reinforced concrete structures thicker than 2 meters. The missile boasts extremely high accuracy thanks to its advanced guidance system, with a circular error probability (CEP) of no more than 3 meters.

| Specifications | Original version (JASSM) | Upgraded variant (JASSM-ER) |
|---|---|---|
| Weight | ~1,000 kg | ~1,000 kg |
| Maximum speed | 1,000 km/h | 1,000 km/h |
| Operating range | 360 km | 980 km |
| Common Equivalent Degree (CEP) | < 3m | < 3m |

In addition to the ground attack variant, the US also developed the long-range anti-ship variant, the AGM-158C LRASM. This version is equipped with an active radar seeker and has an operational range of up to 1,000 km, and can be deployed flexibly from both aircraft and surface warships.

AD-08 Majid system and interception report
Citing Russian media reports, experts believe that Iran's AD-08 Majid mobile air defense system was responsible for these interceptions. This is a new generation short-range air defense system, specifically designed to destroy low-flying targets and precision weapons.

The AD-08 Majid system uses a stealth guidance mechanism (without active radar transmission), making it difficult to detect and counter electronically suppress. This system has a range of approximately 8 km and interceptor missiles reach speeds of 2,450 km/h, allowing for rapid response to high-speed flying targets.
The impact and authenticity of information
Information about the JASSM missile being intercepted has caused considerable anxiety in Ukraine. Kyiv is currently hoping to receive this type of missile from the US to integrate it into its F-16 fighter jets, in order to carry out precision strikes against strategic targets deep within enemy territory.

However, international military experts advise caution regarding this information. Currently, there is no photographic evidence or independent data to confirm that AGM-158 JASSM missiles were shot down en masse by AD-08 Majid systems, as described by Russian media.
